King Plaudit - was by Red Plaudit x Cheyenne Maid), foaled in May of 1964, was a product of the legendary Colorado horseman Hank Wiescamp’s breeding program. A chestnut with a large white blanket accentuated by a blaze face and four white stockings, King Plaudit was sired by Wiescamp’s stallion Red Plaudit, making him a paternal half-brother Appaloosa superstar Prince Plaudit. King Plaudit soon attracted the interest of Wallace Barbee, a Missouri horseman looking to take his Appaloosa breeding program to the next level. After visiting Wiescamp’s Colorado ranch, Wallace purchased the young King Plaudit and began showing him at halter to great success—33 undefeated halter titles in one year.
Bred by Hank Wiescamp and later syndicated for $300,000, PRINCE PLAUDIT was promoted by Carl Miles. Foaled in 1963, PRINCE PLAUDIT is by RED PLAUDIT and out of PRINCESS RITA.
He was a top sire with get winning in both halter and performance events. A two-time national Get-of-Sire Champion, PRINCE PLAUDIT sired winners of one gold, three silver, and 19 bronze medallions. He sired 637 registered foals and 45 of his get also produced medallion winners. PRINCE PLAUDIT won a bronze production plaque in 1976.
PATCHY was bred in the ApHC's first year, and became known as the "picture horse" because of his vivid color and correct conformation. Foaled in 1939, PATCHYis by PATCHES and out of MISS ROSALIA (JC) by Ponce de Leon. The Champion Stallion at the first National show, PATCHY was bred by Herbert Camp, owned by Don Imboden and Ben Johnson, and passed away in 1963.
Bred by Jack Casement of Westplains, Colorado, JOKER B. was the 1962 National Champion Get-of-Sire, and in the top three for Get-of-Sire in 1957, 1963, and 1966. Foaled in 1941, JOKER B. is by RED DOG (AQHA) and out of BLUE VITRIOL.
He was an influential sire, and during the 1960s this horse was greatly responsible for the promotion of the Appaloosa breed by way of his extensive campaigning and numerous public appearances. JOKER B. sired 196 registered foals and passed away in 1966.
